Taylor Swift’s buzzy diss track, “thanK you aIMee,” has quickly become one of the most talked about songs on The Tortured Poets Department. After fans noticed the randomly capitalized letters in the title spell out “KIM”—a possible reference to Kim Kardashian and her long-running beef with the “Karma” singer—the reality star seems to be jumping into the feud. Following reports that Kardashian wants Swift to “move on” from their past drama, the Skims founder appeared to subtly show fans where her head is at with an Instagram Story post that’s firmly Team Karlie Kloss.
A brief refresher: Swift and Kloss, a.k.a. Kaylor, became friends in January 2012 when they made plans to bake cookies together on X (formerly Twitter). Their friendship blossomed during Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show appearances, bestie road trips, a “Bad Blood” cameo, and many public hangouts. Swift even revealed that her best friend had a designated guest room at her home.
While Kloss was an original member of Taylor’s squad, rumors began to swirl that the pair had a falling out in 2018, especially when Swift didn’t attend Kloss’s wedding to Joshua Kushner, which included guests like Katy Perry and Scooter Braun.
On Monday, April 22, Kardashian seemingly took aim at Swift while posting a birthday tribute to her friend Derek Blasberg on Instagram Story. One throwback photo, a 2022 selfie which included Khloé Kardashian and Kloss, piqued fans’ interest as the model hasn’t been photographed with the Kardashians before and it’s unknown whether they’re friends.
Back in a 2016 interview with Sunday Times Style, Kloss seemed at a loss for words when asked if she thought Kardashian was a good person amidst the reality star’s feud with Swift. After a few uncomfortable moments, the Victoria’s Secret alum said, “I think she’s been a lovely person to me in the past. Look, I really don’t know her that well.”
She later clarified her words on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “I will not allow the media to misconstrue my words. Taylor has always had my back and I will always have hers.”
Swift has yet to publicly respond to Kardashian’s Instagram post, but Swifties will definitely be keeping an eye on both her and Kardashian’s socials for any potential Easter eggs.
